Peoples Institutional Baptist Church, a 501(c)(3) organization, is located in the central area of Seattle, WA. In 2002, PIBC started the Educational Resource Street Fair as a social justice outreach program. Today, ERSF has grown into a highly successful public/private community social network raising awareness and advocating for the needs of under-served children, youth and families from low-wage households.
The ERSF achieves its mission by connecting people to people, programs, organizations and resources that help families move out of poverty. Last year ERSF helped parents prepare 1,400 students to return to school with the tools they need to be successful: computers, books, backpacks, school supplies, tutors, mentors and much more.
To earn free school supplies students must be registered for the fair. Please bring your student ID and, if you registered online, confirmation number to the registration booth on Saturday between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. to pick up your student passport. Express lines will be open for those who have registered online. At this time online registration has not yet begun.
Students in grades 1–12 who were not winners in the 2008 contest are eligible to enter the 2009 essay writing contest. Winners will receive a voucher for a personal computer. This year all entries will be made online – no hardcopy submissions accepted. Watch the ERSF Web site for contest instructions.
